My San Diego Comic Con 2013 Experience...Part 1

1st.JPG

First of all, my apologies for the delay since the last blog.  I took an extended vacation (which actually didn't end up being a vacation at all, seeing as I had spent most of the time finishing up inks on Grodd for DC Comics' Villains Month) after San Diego Comic Con to hang out and catch up with friends.

I'll keep text brief since there are so many pictures to share, hence the "Part 1" of this entry.

Again, thanks to Clydene Nee and DeviantArt, I was once again in the popular Artist Alley section of the exhibit hall.  For the second year in a row, my neighbors were the great artist Todd Nauck and his wife Dawn.

Sandwiched between Todd and Dawn, two of the most genuinely kind people I've ever met.

In short:

Highlight of the convention: Running into Slayer's own Kerry King, and getting a photo with him!  This is one day after I just happened to do a sketch commission of Wonder Woman wearing a Slayer shirt (requested), and for fun I threw in Kerry King behind her (again, this is purely coincidence that I bumped into the man himself!).

SLAAAAYYYYERRRRRRRRR!!!  The funny thing is that when I saw him, he was just taking pictures of some of the toy/sculpture displays.

Lowlight of the convention:   Losing my wallet--cash, credit cards, ID, everything--for most of one day.  UNTIL it magically turned up at Lost & Found toward the end of that day--with everything still intact!!  Bless that person who found and returned it; whoever you are (wish I had that information).  There are some good people left in this world!  Still, the time without my wallet and not knowing its whereabouts was probably the most stressful period of all my convention appearances in my entire career!  I also want to sincerely thank all my Facebook friends for their outpouring of support/offers to help during that time--what great people, all of you!

Anyway, let the galleries begin!  First, here are a couple snaps from the plane on the way to the show (I like taking pictures whilst flying):

Next, here are some sketches I did over that weekend for fans:

And finally, some COSPLAY (arguably the biggest attraction of the show):

As mentioned, I will have plenty more pictures next blog! :)

Also, as a reminder: I will be appearing at Fanboy Expo this weekend in Tampa, Florida!

Then, next weekend I will be at Wizard World Chicago Con--preorders on sketches are still available for another week at discounted prices.   Just contact me for more info!
